anti-virus filtering system rolled out
June 18, 2004
Internet spam and viruses are getting more
commonplace with each passing day. Despite this growing threat, many
end-users don’t have anti-virus software. Even of those that do, many of
them don’t renew their subscriptions to keep it up-to-date.
To help combat this problem a system has been set in
place that scans all incoming and outgoing email for viruses. The system
is powered by McAfee VirusScan and
F-Secure’s F-Prot. The server
downloads new virus definitions updates from both companies.
In addition to this protection it’s recommended that
you purchase or download a free
anti-virus scanner to run on your own computer. For those of you
already owning anti-virus software make sure it’s up-to-date. The threat
posed to you via email has greatly been lessened by Webstriker’s new
service, however you are still prone to viruses that come through other
means. |
